Procedure for Authorization of Designated Pilot Examiner

STEP 1:

An application for an authorisation as a Designated Pilot Examiner; will be send to NCAA  before the need to utilize such authorisation and shall meet the requirements as specified in Part 2 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) and as may be published by the Authority from time to time;

STEP 2:

The Guidelines and Requirements can be issued to prospective applicants in hard copies or printed online at http://www.ncaa.gov.ng/directorates/licensing-standards/ for guidance and compliance.

STEP 3:

Upon receipt of an application under regulation 3.10.1 of Part 2 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations and where the applicant is certified as a suitably qualified person of integrity to conduct flight crew member tests on behalf of the Authority, the Authority shall advise the applicant in writing of the training required as specified in IS 3.10.2 of Part 2 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations;

STEP 4:

The applicant is then booked for the relevant test;

STEP 5:

The  Examiner  will  present  the  report  of  the  practical  test  with  relevant  limitation  and recommendations to the licensing office;

STEP 6:

A Designated Pilot Examiner shall be notified in writing by the Authority, of his responsibilities and privileges;

STEP 7:

The application for Issue, Re-authorisation is processed within 48 working hours;

STEP 8:

When  all  the  conditions  have  been  satisfactorily  met,  the  applicant  will  be  issued  with  a  letter  of Authorisation;

STEP 9:

The applicant is notified of the collection of the signed authorisation which will be released upon presentation of an identification or letter of authority from the company. The DPE examiner designation shall be valid for One Year;

 

Where the requirements for Issue, Renewal are not met as required in Nig. CARs Part 2 and other established documents as referred in step 2:

A Letter of Denial written to the applicant within 24hours informing the applicant reasons for such denial and advice the applicant on the outstanding documents to meet his or her request. (Further processing will depend on when the applicant submits the outstanding documents).
