The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, has been honoured with the Prestigious Excellence Leadership of the Year Award at the 65th anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Aviation Chapter) held in Lagos on 11th June, 2026, in recognition of his outstanding contribution towards the membership for development of Air transport industry in Nigeria.
Other NCAA management officials who bagged Excellence leadership Awards include the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu - for his outstanding contribution towards the membership for development and strengthening consumer protection of air transport industry in Nigeria.
Dr. (Mrs.) Anastasia Gbem, Director, Human Resources and Administration - for her contributions towards the membership for development of the Air transport industry and administration.
The Lagos Regional Manager Barr. (Mrs) Bukola Aduragbemi Teriba - for her role and contributions towards the membership for development of the air transport industry in Nigeria.
Receiving the awards, the DGCA, who was represented by Barr. Aduragbemi Bukola Teriba, thanked the organizers for the recognitions, noting that awards is a reflection of the collective efforts of the management and staff of NCAA.
He congratulated the newly elected executives of the NIM (Aviation Chapter) for organizing 2026 1st retreat with the theme: " Membership Development: Raising the Next Generation of Professionals,'' describing it as apt in the light of exigency of producing competent, ethical, innovative and visionary professionals who can sustain and improve upon the achievements and excellence of previous generations.
In her keynote address, the Chairman, (NIM - Aviation Chapter), Mrs Kemi Akinbolade, stated that core mandate of the NIM (Chartered) is to build capacity in the area of leadership and management to pursue knowledge that will expand the managerial horizon of our members across aviation ecosystem to lead and manage diverse human, financial and material resources in achieving the safety, security and regularity of civil aviation in Nigeria.
