The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has organized a two-day sensitization seminar for Designated Aircraft Maintenance Examiners (DAME) and Air Traffic Controller Examiners (DATCE).
The twin-phased seminar was held at the NCAA Lagos Region Annex, Ikeja between Wednesday,March16and Thursday, March 17, 2022 for the DAMEs and the DATCEs respectively.
The Director General of NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu represented by the General Manager (Licensing), Mr. Hyelni H. Bassi welcome the participants, assuring them of world-class presentations from erudite facilitators from the Authority.
Represented by General Manager, Airworthiness Standard and Approval (ASA), Engr. Maude Zakary, the Director of Airworthiness and Standards (DAWS),Engr. Kayode Ajiboye also welcome the participants to the Aviation House.
Section 2.2.1.6(a)(4 of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2015 provides that designation be given by the Authority to Aircraft Maintenance Engineers to act on behalf of the Director General as Designated Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Examiners (DAMEs).
No fewer than 43 participants drawn from Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) took part in the one-day seminar.
On the other hand, a total number of 18 participants from Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Presidential Air Flight (PAF), Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Nigeria College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Lead Stream and Aero Contractor participated in the DATCE seminar.
The DAME seminar, which is an orientation/training programme, is a competency-based component requirement for qualifying prospective designees and a recurrence for authorized Designated Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Examiners. In this meeting, designees would review problem areas, their performance, requirements and procedures in the conduct of AME skill test.
Conversely, the purpose of this ATC seminar is to prescribe standards that shall be used by NCAA inspectors and designated ATC examiners when conducting the Air Traffic Controller skill test. OJT instructors are expected to use this document when preparing applicants for skill tests. Applicants should be familiar with this document and refer to these standards during their training.
While Engr. Ameh Joseph (Deputy General Manager, DOLTS) and Engr. Obi Nwabueze (DGM, Licensing) facilitated the DAME, facilitators of the DATCE workshop are Mr. Hyelni H. Bassi (GM, Licensing) and Mr. Okon-Akpan Victor (Assistant Chief Licensing Examiner).
The certificates of participation for the twin seminars were handed over to the participants by Mr. Hyelni H. Bassi.
