Capt. Chris Najomo, the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has reaffirmed that Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is statutorily responsible to both the air travellers and the airlines to ensure safe, secure and passenger-friendly air transport in Nigeria.

Capt. Najomo made this assertion when Mr Jean-Luc Mevellec, Air France, Country Manager Nigeria (General Management), accompanied by the Key Account Manager (Commercial Division), Antonia Kenosa Umunna, paid him a familiarization visit in his office in Abuja on 9th October, 2025.

Prominent among issues discussed during the visit were need for effective consumer protection, timely filling of winter schedule to the relevant authorities for approvals, compliance with the Ministerial directive regarding use Nigerian catering services for flights leaving the country, deployment of Airbus 350 to Abuja route and the forthcoming presentation on eco-piloting and carbon dioxide in Lagos.

While welcoming Mr Jean-Luc Mevellec to Nigeria, the DGCA expressed optimism of maintaining an existing cordial relationship with the Airline.

Capt. Najomo, however, tasked Air France to always prioritize customer service delivery, timely dissemination of flight-related information and cordial relations with the Consumer Protection Officers stationed across all terminals in the event of crisis.
