On May 15, 2024, Dr. Matthew Olamide Adepoju, Director-General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), paid a strategic courtesy visit to Capt. Chris Najomo, Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) at the Authority's Abuja headquarters.
The purpose of the visit was to explore potential collaboration between the two agencies in areas like rocket programmes, hot air balloon regulation, and safe drone deployment.
Capt. Najomo expressed enthusiasm with the partnership, noting its potential to strengthen national security through authorized drone use for surveillance and advanced communication systems.
A joint committee was established to oversee the collaboration and the agencies expressed their commitment with a symbolic gift exchange.
Other NCAA directors present at the meeting, underscored the Authority's unified support for the partnership.
