The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), on the 12th December, 2025, inaugurated the Air Cargo and Mail Security Review Committee at its Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, charged the multi-sectoral committee to address persistent security challenges affecting Nigeria’s air cargo and mail operations, including delays, theft, and disorderliness at cargo terminals at the airports nationwide.
Represented by the Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, Engr. Godwin Balang, Capt. Najomo noted that strengthening cargo security is essential as Nigeria positions itself as the air cargo hub of West and Central Africa.
He, therefore, tasked the committee to review the current security operations, and recommended improvements to align with international best practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
