NCAA, ICAO HOSTS NATIONAL QUALITY CONTROL WORKSHOP FOR AVSEC USAP-CMA image

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), commenced a workshop on national quality control for Universal Security Audit Programme Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) to improve technical and quality control in Aviation Security (AVSEC).

The five-day programme commenced today, 21st July 2025, at the NCAA Lagos Regional Office.

In his opening remarks, the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, represented by Lagos Regional Manager, Barr. Olubukola Aduragbemi Terriba stated that the training is to foster actionable solutions that will improve some of the findings of the ICAO USAP-CMA.

Capt. Najomo recalled that the findings of the ICAO Audit conducted in March 2024 were aimed at strengthening quality control activities, management of aviation security crises, and ensuring aviation security measurement are put in place in the basis of risk assessment.

Mr Ademola Oladele, ICAO's Avsec Regional Officer for West and Central Africa, stressed the importance of this technical assistance for the NCAA, noting Nigeria's status as one of the world's largest aviation operators.

Participants were drawn from ICAO, the NCAA AVSEC Director, Dr. Ben Omogo, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), airlines, and a host of NCAA AVSEC staff.
