The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has organized a one-day training workshop for frontline managers at its headquarters in Abuja as part of efforts to operationalize its new Flight Data Centre, a facility described as a clear commitment to aviation safety.
Declaring the workshop open, the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo said the centre will allow proactive collection and analysis of flight data to prevent safety issues from escalating, adding that the training is “an investment in our collective future and a clear statement of our commitment to excellence.”
The Director of Special Duties, Mr. Horatius Egua, commended the initiative and recalled how the project had been stalled since 2016 before its revival under the DGCA. He highlighted that the centre will enhance safety oversight, regulatory compliance, incident investigation, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration.
In attendance were representatives of BAGASOO, NSIB, ICAO, APS facilitators, and other aviation stakeholders.
