NCAA CELEBRATES SUPERB CAPT. MUSA NUHU AT 57 image

The Management and staff of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) recently rolled out drums of celebration for Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu, helmsman of the regulatory agency as he added another year.

The Director General, who clocked 57 on the 28th April, 2021 was looking radiant and cheerful as he received senior management team and other members of staff in his Abuja office.

                Capt. Nuhu was all smiles as goodwill messages and prayers poured in torrents by members of staff who gathered  to honour him.

                In response, the celebrant who could not hide his joy expressed gratitude to God for sparing his life to see the day and prayed for safer and accident-free skies.

                The second leg of the celebration was at the Lagos Regional Office as the General Manager, Department of Public Relations, Mr. Sam Adurogboye accompanied by the Assistant General Manager in his Department, Mrs Adekotujo Carol presented to the NCAA boss a card gift and other souvenir on behalf of the Department.

                Born on the April 28th, 1964 in the ancient city of Kano, Kano State, Capt. Nuhu's stellar aviation career spanning over three decades began with the defunct Nigeria's Airways Limited where he served as a Co-Pilot on aircraft B 737 between 1984 through 1990. He was in the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF), Abuja for 16 years serving in different capacities as Captain on Gulfstream GIV and GV, Training Captain Citation II and Safety Officer.

                He obtained FAA CPL from Burnside-Ott Aviation Training Centre, Opa-Locka Airport, Miami, Florida in May, 1981. And type Ratings on: CE500/Gulfstream GIV/Gulfstream GV.

                With over 12,000 hours, PLC Jet Multi-Engine of 9,000 hours; Extensive International and Trans – Oceanic Experience, Capt. Nuhu has also worked with Petrowest Operations Services SA, Geneva, Switzerland/MRS Nigeria as Captain Gulfstream V (2010-2015) and Chief Pilot (2014- 2015).

                Capt. Musa's insatiable quest for knowledge made him attend quite a number of professional courses. Some of these courses include Aviation Safety/Aircraft Accident Investigation- University of Southern California; Quality Management Lead Auditor- British Standard Institute; Advanced Safety Management/ Airline Safety & Quality Management Processes-IATA; Hijack and Security  Management Training-Global Air Training and Human Factors Accident Investigation/Change Management Course- Canada Helicopter Corporation.

                The DG also bagged a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from International Aviation-Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.

                At a point, he was Technical Assistant (TA) to the then Minister of State, Aviation Sen. Hadi Sirika and immediate past Nigeria's representative on the International Civil Aviation Organisation Council (ICAO) succeeding Mr. Martins Nwafor. In recognition of Capt. Musa's resourcefulness, he was elected Chairperson of Comprehensive Regional Aviation Safety Plan for Africa and Indian Ocean (AFI Plan) during the Steering Committee meeting at the 40th Session of ICAO General Assembly.

                He was by extension, Coordinator of AFI Group chairperson and an ex-officio member of the African Civil Aviation Commission Bureau; ICAO Council's Implementation, Strategy and Planning Group (ISPG) for the restructuring of ICAO Secretariat; and Human Resources Committee (HRC), Air Transport Committee (ATC), Finance Committee (FIC) and Working Group on Governance and Efficiency (WGGE). That capacity he occupied until his deserved appointment as 7th Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Monday -16th March, 2020.
