NON- AERONAUTICAL LIGHT ASSESSMENT AROUND AERODROMES

1.0 GENERAL Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority Advisory Circulars from Aerodrome Standards Department contain information about standards, practices and procedures that the Authority has found to be an Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC) with the associated Regulations. An AMC is not intended to be the only means of compliance with a rule, and consideration will be given to other methods of compliance that may be presented to the Authority. 2.0 PURPOSE The purpose of this document is to provide guidance to conduct an assessment of the Aerodromes to identify whether non-aeronautical ground lights or a laser emitter near the aerodrome, which may endanger the safety of aircraft, are properly shielded. Consequently, the aim of this Guidance Material is to assess the impact of any such activity and take appropriate measures to extinguish, shield or otherwise modify the hazardous non-aeronautical lights or LASER emitter near the Aerodrome which may strike pilot of an aircraft thereby endangering the safety of aircraft on or in the vicinity of an aerodrome. 2.0 REFERENCES This Advisory Circular provides methods, acceptable to the Authority, for showing compliance with the requirements of Part 12 of Nig. CARs as well as explanatory and interpretative material to assist in showing compliance. 3.0 APPLICATION The provisions under this guidance shall apply to all the Aerodromes. 4.0 REFERENCE The Advisory Circular relates specifically to Part 12.6 and Aerodrome Standards Manual 9.2.3.1.2
