Justus Ogidi Wariya has over twenty seven years experience as a Senior Aviation Operations and maintenance Professional with Continental Airlines and later United Airlines at the Corporate Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. At that level, he was successful at building and leading highly efficient operating teams in a demanding and technically sophisticated environment with ability to manage multi-location projects, improve continuous process and initiation of change to add value to the system. As a Senior Fleet Coordinator, Technical Operation, Corporate Headquarters United Airlines, Chicago, Illinois he worked directly with pilots and field technical operations concerning air worthiness and safety issues for more than eight hundred United Airlines aircraft in operation worldwide. Receiving maintenance discrepancy write ups from cabin crew and promptly utilizing more than four thousand field aircraft technicians to ensure safety compliance, ensuring that Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations are carried out accordingly as well as monitoring and analysing of maintenance reliability programs.
While with Continental Airlines as Senior Maintenance Operations Controller in the Maintenance Operations Control Department (MOC), Houston, Texas he was also involved in overseeing the day-to-day maintenance operations involving fleet of over four hundred aircraft, directing and managing technical support groups, coordination and planning for engineers and aircraft mechanics in the field and repair stations, assigning tasks and ensuring compliance of both tactical and strategic technical project groups such as Airworthiness Directives (AD) and Fleet campaign Directives (FCD) and monitoring of available manpower to ensure that an efficient service is provided for achieving the company objectives.
He was also responsible for monitoring compliance of all aircraft operations related discrepancies, re-assigning and deferring workloads for engineers and aircraft mechanics due to operational problems; departmental briefings of technical issues and changes from aircraft manufactures and field operations; establishing all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and Guidelines established by Continental Airlines.
He also Supervised technical planning and coordination of maintenance operations control departments; scheduling and monitoring compliance of Interior Checks and Deferred Item Projects (DIP); scheduling of all service and A checks; planning and scheduling of other low-level interval items; coordination of System Control and Line Maintenance concerning related issues, maintenance of log and auditing all scheduled workloads.
Mr. Wariya is currently the Director of Air Transport Regulation. His responsibilities include the economic regulation of the Air Transport business in Nigeria through Licensing of scheduled, non-scheduled air transport operations, non-commercial private flight operations and conduct of foreign airlines operations; Economic regulation and monitoring of airlines, aerodromes, air navigation services and other aviation and allied aviation service providers; Billing and reconciliation of accounts arising from Commercial Agreements; Regulation of Aviation charges and other related charges by aerodrome operators, air navigation, meteorological and other allied services providers; Facilitation of Air Transport; Certification, licensing of, setting and monitoring of Standards and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by ground handling service providers, in-flight catering companies, Travel Agencies, Cargo Agents, Air Freight Forwarders, Agents of Foreign Airlines and other related aviation service providers;
Others include: Ensuring adequacy and validity of insurance cover for airlines, aerodrome operators and allied aviation service providers; Billing of civil aviation fees and collation of Air Transport Statistics; and Application of rules against anti-competitive practices; and monitoring of airline fares and tariffs.
Mr. Wariya is an Associate member of Institute of Transportation Engineers, and American planning Association (Member) as well as recipient of RUBY & BRONZE AWARD from Federal Aviation Administration and Certificate of Appreciation from the Houston Independent School District for Outstanding Service “Volunteers in Public Schools”.
